I'm looking for a large diaphram tube condensor, mainly to record drums and vocals. I like to mic drums with just a (borrowed) GrooveTubes GT-1 as an overhead, and an SM-57 on the snare. I like the natural sound I get this way. Since the GT is borrowed I need to get my own mic soon. I've been looking at various combinations of mics and pre's, and I am liking the CAD M-9 as a replacement for the GT-1 on drums. How is this mic on vocals? I find the GT-1 to be a bit bright on my voice, so I was looking for a mic that sounded as great as the GT-1 on drums, but was also a bit warmer on voice. Would the CAD M-9 fit the bill? Let me hear your 2 cents!
