others in that range worth looking at are the KSM32, SP T3, some of the SE mics are apparently pretty good.. maybe a used TLM103? there's always the SM7 and RE20 for a great dynamic mic (good for vocals)..

The definition of "good" in that price range is very much a debated topic. Was recently shopping mics and wanted a tube mic to compliment a Brauner Phantom C but didn't have the benjamins for the usual high end suspects. I just picked up a Studio Projects T3 tube mic that I'm liking a lot. I've tried it on soprano female vocals, combo guitar amp and acoustic guitar so far and been very pleased with the results. Nine different patterns (from omni to figure eight) are selectable from the power supply.
It's proving to be a very versatile mic, for me at least.
