My drum teacher suggested a PZM for record drums as one of the better cheaper options (I don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on an 4 mic audio interface with the mics :P).

Any views on PZMs?

Cheers

This appears to be for practice and technical self improvement. Get a Zoom H4n and forget the interface and external microphones. If you decide you want to add a pair of microphones later it has room for two more externals via normal XLR inputs. The Zoom can in some circumstances double as a light duty interface as well. Done and done.

I think TheJackAttack's suggestion is a good one.

Regarding PZMs, I think they're great for lots of stuff including drums. Placement is important. If you are set up with your back to the wall try one taped to the wall behind your head. The opposite wall is another option.
