Hi I'm new here so don't be too harsh. I have a USB condenser mic and was wondering if the soundcard on the computer affects the quality of the USB? I tried this mic on a computer and a laptop and both have different qualities. The computer was much better. Laptop could not handle it. I was also wondering, are Usb condenser mics better than regular condenser mics that go through preamps and phantom power? Or vice versa? I'm not too good at recording vocals so any advice is appreciated.

There should be no difference in sound quality of the USB mic between a laptop and desktop computer. The USB interface is implemented in much the same way in both. What do you mean by "the laptop could not handle it"?
Most standard condenser mics running through a proper external interface will give much better results than a USB mic, but the USB mic is a reasonable entry into the field of recording.
