I just bought Cubase SL3. I installed it, and before I even did anything, I noticed the CPU meter in the VST Performance meter was spiking. The level was low, but it would spike and overload to a rhythm. It was like 4 times per second and continued at this constant rate. If I load a song, it sounds like latency clicks.

I know it's not an issue with my interface, because I tried different ones, and messed with Buffer sizes. It even does it when I have it on Built-In Audio. Its doing it before I even load a song.

I use an iMag G5 with over a gig of ram. It can't have anything to with actual computer performance, because it does before I have anything loaded. Plus it's spiking at a constant rhythm.

Cubase SL3 came with HALion and Hypersonic, and I have those installed, could this be a factor?

Please help.
