I appear to be eligable to buy an educational version of Cubase 4, which of course is a lot cheaper. I have looked around the web for answers to these questions, but it's very hard to find something. So I hope a few of you have some experience with this.
My questions are:
Do/Could I run into trouble when I use this version professionally later on?
Can I upgrade like I had a normal full version?

One thing that might be of interest is that while full retail versions of Cubase can have their ownership transferred for upgrading etc. if you were to purchase a used educational version from, say ebay, Steinberg would not recognize you as a legitimate owner and would not allow you to upgrade your product to the next version. I learned this the 'hard' way.

Usually educational/academic versions are the same versions as the 'regular' versions. The angle is to help students and institutes out. You shouldn't have any trouble upgrading later, but asking the dealer you're buying it from would be my next step.
Double check with who you buy it from, though. Some places won't sell to students specifically, but rather the institution. Or, you might have to submit papers proving you're a student/institution.
