Hey Im putting togther a small home studio and I'm very interested in the Cubase system 4. I havent heard much of anything on these boards about it so I decided to go ahead and ask.
What are your impressions on it?
Would it work well for someone starting off like me?
How well do the built in mic preamps work?
I Cubase pretty easy to learn?
What kind of quality should I expect from it?
For the price what l compares to it?
How do it compare to the pro tools mbox?
Anything else you could add would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

Inexpensive is, ok, I can almost deal with that.
Expensive is, this is what I have been missing?!!.....READ THE F***ING MANUAL!!!!
You can't compare anything to the MBox because just about anything is better that that! lmao!
Opus
Opus,
It's GREAT to see you back! hee hee hee

Is that the one and only Opus that got me through upgrade to Win2k pro? I'll agree it's good to see him back here.
By the way, if the Cubase 4 is anything like Cubase VST I think that it is pretty straightforward, but as has already been stated here - Read The Manual.

Well, first off it's a USB device so I'm pretty amazed that it can handle 24/96Khz. I wouldn't dare think of doing that through the USB!
USB is ok for 24/48Khz max...stereo! All I use it for.
This is the way you have to look at hardware...

The first thing you need to ask yourself is,
self, what do I want to truly get out of this system?
self, what will I be recording?
self, what will I not be recording?
Any application can be easy to learn as long as you have some idea of what audio is about. Not just knowing sampling rates and bit depths....I'm talking real analog based studio knowledge. knowing the lingo of audio terminology and the most, and I mean most crucial thing to know how to do.....READ THE F***ING MANUAL!!!!
