I got a call to come pick up some old Macs at a school my wife works at. They've gone all PC, and they know I fix-up orphaned Macs. One was a 7200/75 but the other was a monster-rack-mounted Avid Media Processor. It booted up fine and turned out to be an 8100/100 with 64MB ram and a 1GB Seagate. It had a NuBus extender in it and a bunch of cards. The top panel had a list of the four configurations it came in, and this appeared to be the "Media/Film Composer's with Avid Broadcast Video Board" version. The cards were listed by location as Nubus Video, ATTO SEIV, Digi SA4, Avid Broadcast Video Board, and Advanced JPEG or JPEG III. My eye caught the Digi name, so I pulled the card and found it labeled "Pro Tools Audio Card, Digidesign 1991." The backside is labeled PII rev E while the lid description notes it as rev DF2. Is this the first Pro Tools TDM card? Four-track 16 bit or so?
I already have an 8100 in the studio running a NuVerb through AES and thought I might move it into this monster. I assume the card is useless wihout it's associated hardware interface. The software may still be on the drive, I haven't checked. Anybody remember this old card?
