Alright, I'm ready for an earful. Fletcher, you seem to have an opinion about a lot of things. Most of what I've read here is negative when it concerns other people's albums and other engineer's work. I'm partly referring to the Aerosmith topic elsewhere. I picked up the Aerosmith CD and I didn't feel offended by how it sounds. It just sounds like Aerosmith playing rock music. So, for the record: What DO you like? Give us some names and records that you consider great and why. I know how you feel about gear, but I wanna know what your criteria are for determining if a record sucks or not. Yes, I've heard the El Camino record you did so give me something else. Actually give me alotta else! :p

I really only like 2 or 3 songs off 'Autobiotics'...but proximity and all that

The last 'Bottle Rockets' album is amazing, most of Buddy Miller's catalog should be mandatory listening for anyone even thinging of making music. Soul Coughing, Mary Lee's Corvette, damn near anything Tom Russell has ever gone near I usually find pretty interesting...the last Steve Earle and the Dukes record, "Transcendental Blues"...took a while to sink in, but now that it has, it's really a wonderful piece of the world.

I don't give a shit what the critics said, I though Collective Soul's last record "Blender" was one of their best. Now that was done from top to bottom in Pro-Tools, and in alot of ways sounds like it...but less than a bunch of other stuff. I humbly submit that alot of what I don't like about mostly P-T recordings is when they leave the digital domain, then renter it, then leave it again, and come back to it later...shit just gets smaller and grainier with every conversion.

I like the songs on 'Just Push Play' alot...it's just that on a 'sonic' level, it doesn't have the depth of 'toys' or 'rocks' to me. Then again, the CD rereleases of those albums didn't have the depth of the original vinyl, so perhaps I'm comparing apples to oranges.

Does it really matter what some 40 year old fat guy thinks about modern music? I'm not really the center of a demographic now am I.
