I have a dry guitar track and just for kicks I am going to run it into a software emulator. I also want to apply high/low pass filtering and a separate EQ plug for EQ editing/sweetening. What order would you use or do you think would be the most effective and why?

EQ and filtering, IMO, should be interchangable so long as the change is static (isn't volume dependent i.e. dynamic EQ).
Software modelling... well:
Do you want to model the EQ'd sound or EQ the model? Giving more bass to the modeller will give a different sound than boosting it after the point.
