Hello all,
I have a 1120 Marantz console amp that I bought in 1975. I'm using it in my home studio to power a pair of JBL 4408's. I been considering upgrading my monitor system. Is my present system worth keeping...or should I spend the money to upgrade...and if so what would I need to spend to hear an improvment?

Only you can decide that. I used to have a pair of 4408's for my ADAT home setup and they served me well. Sitll have them but they now serve as Living room stereo/TV speakers. They do tend to have a bite and can cause fatigue at louder levels and after many hours. If you know these speakers real well, are happy with them and are getting good results then I'd be looking for the weakest link in the chain. If there are other things in your soinc path that need attention, then that is where you should likely focus.
