Hey guys, got another song to show you! It's kind of progressive metal/rock with an extended structure (starts off in a general song structure then 'goes off on one' with some ridiculous time signature changes)..trying to keep it a bit tasteful though.
As far as the mix goes, it was 80% a cleanup effort to mask the fact that most of the stuff recorded wasn't re recorded from the demo stage, so the vocals are pretty sketchy at points (most of it!), recorded on a T-bone sc400 or something through a fast-track pro, but other bits like the drums and acoustic were recorded using Telefunken u47's etc (even though the drummer didn't learn the song until the day)
I was going for a roomy but slightly djenty sound, for those of you unfamiliar with 'djent': [="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfOnq-zXXBw"]Periphery - Icarus Lives! - YouTube[/]="http://www.youtube…"]Periphery - Icarus Lives! - YouTube[/]
But with other bits a more natural sound like Karnivool: [[url=http://="http://www.youtube…"]Karnivool Deadman - YouTube[/]="http://www.youtube…"]Karnivool Deadman - YouTube[/] (my favourite ever recordings I think)
Anyways, until it all gets re-recorded here's what I got after spending a few days at my grandad's house using my Sennheiser hd380's:

let me know if anyone would like to download the WAV and I'll put it as downloadable
Cheers! please comment on things I could do to improve it!

It's great, it's cunning, but sometimes in the beginning the vocals are getting lost behind the guitars (eg 1.40) and sometimes the vocals are *way* lost behind them (e.g 1.00). Occasionally you let them break through almost (eg 2.10) and I can make the vocals out. You designed it that way, of course, but...does it work?
In the interlude at 4.40, bring the acoustic guitar up and maybe brighten it a touch? Why not? It sounds great.
That quiet stuff you have after the acoustic guitar is magic. Where'd that come from? :-)
You know what? You know how it comes across a lot of the time, especially in the first half of the song? It comes across as someone who's shy of being heard. I want to hear that guy. For me, it doesn't work the way it is now with the vocals so indistinct.
I like the tune. I like the sound, too. I'd make the vocals much more prominent throughout, though. I like hearing the singer.
