Has anyone used this piece?
It has been discontinued for 3 years.
However I thought it might be the right box to sync our Pro Tools HD system(word clock in) with our Uptown Automation(midi out).
Any thoughts?

we ended up getting a sync I/O...it made the most sense with our HD system. we send our LTC from tape and mult it out to the SYNC I/O and out trusty HP running uptown for our Harrison Raven.
what do you think about the clock in the sync I/O???
we had to trade our Apogee PSX-100 for it, se we're now hunting down a cheap D/A & A/D box for ruff mixes without firing up Pro Tools.
cheers,
Matt

Never seen it in use because most of the engineers I know (and myself included ) just have protools generate code and pump it into the flying fader (or SSL) computer. Whenever they were locking it to 2" or whatever they would have it chase LTC using the USB or sync I/O with either the internal clock, locking to an aardsync 2, or the occasional Lucent unit.
Looks like an interesting unit though.
