I've been patiently awaiting the release of Focusrite's Saffire PRO ($699), but can't help but wonder if Alesis' offering, the IO 26 ($399!) is all I need. Anyone have any thoughts on Alesis' recording gear in general? Anyone own any of their other interfaces like the IO2 or the Multimix? My requirements are simple - I need a 192 Khz interface with 8 XLR ins, and 2 headphone amps. Granted, the Focusrite undoubtedly will have better preamps, but will the Alesis get the job done in the AD/DA conversion department? These are rhetorical questions, but if anyone has insight, please share.
