Ive attached the conversion spec.

This might be the scarlett killer! For the cost of a scarlett 2i2 the M2 is spec'd much closer to a clarett. The m2 is about 1/3 the cost of clarett.

It exceeds clarrett's DA dynamic range by 1-2 db, depending on the model, and Scarlett by 12db! On the AD side M2 falls 3-4 db short of clarett, and beats scarlett by 3-4db.

Latency specs are similar with m2 quoted at 2.5 ms with a 32 sample buffer at 96k.

This is really really good specs for an entry level device. Ive personally had no issues with motu's stability from a hardware or software perspective.

I think this is going to make a great first interface for beginner's and a nice little portable unit for anyone.

That is crazy good for the price!

This seems to be the year for the small interface to be king. Most manufacturers are keeping the specs of their larger units when designing the smaller units. Smart move that gets the consumer hooked on the brand and then invites them to step up to a larger channel count in the future.

Personally, I think the new Presonus ioStation 24c will also be a great choice for someone needing a 2 channel desktop unit. The inclusion of the Artist version of Studio One, Studio Magic Plugin Suite and the tactile controls of a Faderport seal the deal.

That presonus unit looks very cool. This could be the start of the era of consoles. An lcf/control surface with i/o modules for the conversion would be great. Something akin to the Mackie d8b, but with more complete integration with the daw, and analog Channel strips too.

My only gripe with the high quality desktop interfaces is the cost per channel is pretty high relative to the larger units they are based off of.

A 6 input UA apollo x is 2200, a 2 input unit is 900. An 8 ch apogee symphony is around 3000, the 2ch desktop around 1400.

Despite my whining, its great to see high quality for those of us who don't need high channel counts. We can spend less total and use less physical space.
