sounds possibly like bad tubes. The T1953 does function (like most starved plate designs) without the tubes in place - they're simply in the signal path to add harmonic distortion...or "warm" up the signal. Pull the tubes, turn your Warmth dial counterclockwise and see if the noise persists. If it does, then you know it's probably capacitors burning out. Like everything made in china, cheap capacitors are often the culprit in cases with hiss or intermittent malfunction - and that goes for all electronics not just audio gear - and certainly not just Behri stuff.

I would say that the FIRST thing I'd do in a situation where a 57 is hooked up and you're getting "wind-sounding noises" is to put a Shure W2S windscreen over the head f the mic! This almost always fixes that problem...LOL!!!!!

Pull the top of the box and when the tube is warmed up, tap on it (gently) with something like a pencil. Do you hear that tapping coming through the speakers/phones. That's a microphonic tube going bad. Or it could be the Z-4 oscillator regulating the pseudo-psychotic virtual randomizer in the irridecsent cohabitator stage. These are famous for this problem...
