What are the best Gefell mics for recording grand piano?
M930s? 295s? 296s?
Or any other suggestions.
Room is semi-live with vaulted ceiling. Not too big. Piano is about 7 foot 7" with not too dark, not too bright sound (between Steinway and Kawai).
THANKS!
P.S. Assume clean mic preamps.

Anything in the Microtech Gefell product line would probably work well. The M295 or M296, nickel SDs, are accurate, quick and highly musical. The M930 is another good choice. I have a Gefell UMT800. It's a wonderful mic, neutral and smooth with a hint of character, using the M7 capsule. MG claims its the most versatile mic Gefell makes. The UM92.1s or UM900 tube mics are possible too. Stunning products.
