Like Alecio, I am always looking for that perfect keyboard - great sounds, great action, not TOO big or heavy, fun to play, etc.
I almost thought I had achieved the holy grail with the Yamaha S-90 (yeah, not a workstation, but I'm only concerned with live performance here). Great action, great sounds, best piano sample,etc.
But one really annoying drawback. When you change sounds on the fly, there is an obvious and annoying interval of silence when the previous sound cuts off abruptly and the new sound loads. ARRGGGHHH! :mad:

On many Yamaha keyboards you can hold a note, change a patch and it will play the previous patch until all notes have been released. Dunno if this was the case with the S90.
Much of the delay in switching is caused by the vast number of voicing parameters. It just takes the CPU time to load all that stuff. Other manufacturers may do this more elegantly.
Also, the unit probably takes time to "zero out" any time based signal processing (delay and reverb for example) to prevent something nasty from occuring.
I agree with you though...my lame excuse be damned!
