we DI'd it his SVT stack is muted. Lmao. It happens. In my personal defense bass players have played a couple guitar parts for me on my old bands recordings.
It just got me thinking about how the persons perception of the mix would change if they discovered the stack was muted. I feel like most individuals would immediately think of how they could somehow get in in there, or its "missing" now.
I'm really trying to stop doing things just because I think I have to, and really get to the finish line faster. I'm gonna go add some 10k to the vocals and cut some 350 out of a kick drum now.

Many musiciens have ego we need to deal with. When this ego comes with a poor quality instrument and no clue it is cheap. It's a real dillema to figure how to say: 'Hey man, drop the 200$ drum and sit down at my Ayotte drum, we'll make a good record for a change' ;)
I once retracked the drum tracks of a full album for a band and the drummer talked as he had no clue saying to everyone how great is drum and playing sound.
I think the most important thing that makes it easier is if all band members thrust you. Most people have misconceptions and because they will want things that will not work. If they thrust you enough to do it differently that they expect, you could achieve great recordings. Sometimes they ask for good ways of doing things but you might just know it won't work in the environment you record and know well...
