Hi, I'm new here so I apologize if I'm doing something wrong.
I'm a broadcasting major currently in school and I recently updated my mixer to the Eurorack UB1832FX Pro. I had a smaller Eurorack before and had it hooked up to my laptop to record things for school and other projects.
Recently, upon upgrading I noticed a ton of feedback (mostly static and buzzing) with the new mixer. Now it's not the mixer itself, as I have listened to it using headphones without hooking it up to the laptop and it works fine. I'm curious what I may need to do.
Do I need a better soundcard for my laptop? If so, any suggestions?
Heres info on the laptop itself. It's a Dell Inspiron 8200 (about 2 years old). It has 1.7 Ghz, 30 gb harddrive, 384 mbs of ram, and a Crystal WDM audio card. Any help would be appreciated.

As others have said, it sounds like either a bad ground, a bad shield or bad power supply bypass. Could be the cables, the mixer or the card.
if the systems does not have these problems with another mixer hooked up then the problem is probably the mixer. Try listening to the mixer hooked up to a set of speakers. Kurt is correct in saying the output may be bad even though the headphone feed is OK. It could be a bad solder joint or poorly terminated shield on the output connectors.

There is no reason that the soundcard should suddenly need to be replaced due to the implimentation of a new mixer ... the output levels from both mixers should be the same ... 0 dB (nominal).
Just because the headphone output on the Behringer works well is no reason to assume that the output amps on the bus and stereo outs are working correctly. Bypass the computer and plug the mixer directly into the power amp to trouble shoot this problem ...
