Anyone have any experience with the Native Instruments' Guitar Rig 2?
Sounds good/bad? Does/doesn't work well with DAW?

How do you use something like this live?
Well, you'd just run your audio interface outputs through whatever live mixing board you're using.
But I was actually referring to playing along with your other tracks into your DAW. Anytime a DAW's audio interface has to i/o audio, there's some degree of latency (because of throughput, A/D conversion, processing) The higher the latency, the longer the gap between you picking a string and hearing it processed through Guitar Rig.
So, you need a system that can handle low latency to approximate realtime playing. Cool?
Now, you could just input a clean guitar signal, then apply Guitar Rig as you would any other effect plug-in and that would eliminate Guitar Rig having to process on-the-fly. That would minimize latency, but would eliminate that "working the amp" feel you might be used to if you're a guitar player.
An alternative might be hardware cabinet simulation like a Line6 POD XT or Vox ToneLab. I use Tonelab as well as Guitar Rig 2 for different approaches and colorations.
I use it in Digital Performer 4.61 on a dual G5 Mac. Works grea
I use it in Digital Performer 4.61 on a dual G5 Mac. Works great. Sounds great (for a cabinet sim). Bear in mind, it can be processor-intensive and requires very low latency for live play.
