Hey, I was needing some help, I'm planing on buying a new computer, the one i have just doesnt work its kinda old and it was for a long time really mistreated in every way
first i wanted some personal opinions about a notebook or a normal pc,
maybe some basic specifications i should be specially aware of,
and nothing more, just the basics.
it would be used to record and mix, id like to be able to work without worrying about my computer dying or suddenly stopping.
sorry for my english !

Almost no laptops have dual output on video in current models without spending more than budget cash. Also, whether it's needed or not, there is absolutely no reason NOT to get at least an i5 processor. You will guarantee that you have a decent memory controller and the possibility of USB3. A Core 2 Duo machine will not have USB3 even if it is labeled as such due to the architecture of the memory controller. Any version of Win7 seems to be working fine with most DAW programs. I do recommend 64bit and at least 4gb of ram. A main hard drive speed of 7200rpm is preferred. Don't worry about the main drive being some X terabyte drive. A 500gb main drive is plenty sufficient and will run better in the long run. Use auxilliary drives for archived pics and mp3's and itunes. Use secondary drives for recorded audio (destination folders for the DAW). If you intend to multitrack record large track counts live you will need to look into spending bucks but for small track count stuff most current generation i5/i7 computers will do the job.

I would get something with at minimum a dual core processor, 3G+ram and 7200 drive. TI chipset firewire port or separate USB2.0 or 3.0 card. A video card with dual output is nice for second monitor.
