Thanks for the little lesson in proper net mannerisms. Now can, anyone please tell me how I can connect my FW solo to my presonus TubePre? Oh, and I only get sound from my left speaker when recording. Drop a solution or two. Thanks.

I must assume that your firewire box has it's own pre's? And that you want to "do better" by adding an external pre? So, here we go...

There MAY(Oops! Sorry, not yelling!) be a problem, sort've, in hooking an external pre to your, particular, interface? I really don't know? What I wonder though is how you'd get your external pre to NOT(not yelling, again.) use much of the circuitry of the(I must suppose "lesser" quality) interface/firewire box? IOW, if you run the Ext Pre, into the boxes pre, you'd be, sort've "doubling" the amount of "pre" circuitry, then negating the possible "better" quality of the ext pre? See/hear?

Still and all, you want to plug your external pre into a "line input" on your firewire box(I'm not familiar with either device, myself), using any neccessary adapters and hope that your ext pre audio "passes through" as much as possible, WITHOUT(Oops!) -- without using any more of the firewire boxes circuitry as is neccessary? Without knowing more about either item, I can't say if this is even a good idea?

The manuals for either device help? No? Haven't read them, yet?

Course, the other possibility is that neither pre is "better" than the other? I don't know the quality/price of either, but expecting two "same price" gadgets to be much different, to say nothing of one being better than the other may be hopeless before you start - a good pre "beats" a bad pre(Unless you're looking for an "effect" not a quality increase?), everytime - tube or no tube...... I EXPECT(OK, I'm yelling, sue me...) a $500 external pre to "beat" the internal, $8 pres in my mixer(Even here... sometimes?), but not if I run it through the mixer's inferior circuitry to get it to my computer.

Far as the "only one speaker" question - you just don't have your box(es), speakers, computer, software, whatever hooked-up or set-up correctly. Something simple. Maybe you'd better get out those manuals, ey?

I figured out my problem with the one speaker issue, at first when I centered the left channel in the m-audio mixer it didn't spilt the signal to both speakers. I reinstalled, tried agian and WALLAH ! ( Oops...I meanb wallah). I tested my tubepre connected to my computer raw, with out the interface...I must say the sound was to die for. when I hooked my GT55 to the m-audio interface ...the sound is good but great as with the tubepre. To be frank I would take my interface back to G center but the tubepre is just a preamp. No heafdphonejacks, mutiple audio outs, and I'm worried about latency. Funny that my interface is worth more then the preamp...huh?

I have a rough idea how to connect the two devices. I just wanted to know if I should connect via XLR or 1/4 and weather my sound quality would be improved by connecting them both or should i just take my superior tubepre back. I'm feeling depressed, time to go write a song,bye.
