Hi Everyone,

I'm a songwriter and I'm new to recording. I'm trying to figure out the best 4 track to purchase and I want to keep my project simple and relatively inexpensive (up to $200).

Would you recommend purchasing a 4-track "package" deal that comes with a mic, headphones, etc.? Or would you purchase each item separately?

I don't even recommend purchasing something like a 4 track as you stated. You obviously have a computer or you would not be speaking to us here. Your computer is your " 4 track" and perhaps may be even more like your, 16, 24, 32, 48,....... Depending on how fast your computer is, how much RAM you possess, spare large disk drives, etc.. In this forum people will try to direct you to purchasing a microphone, perhaps a small low cost, decent sound the mixture along with perhaps a compressor/limiter. I mean here, you want to think inside the box!

There are so many selections to choose from. The skies the limiter!

Now if you are interested in something portable??? Try a laptop!
