Hello Kurt - first - thank you for taking the trouble to do these audio demos. They're very helpful for me.
Congratulations on the job you did on "Song for Life". Nice performance and engineering.
Did you do anything special to get your voice to sit "up there" in the image - I have trouble getting my lead vocals to sit higher than the monitors.
I'm assuming it's a mic preamp problem (Mackie 1604) but I'd like to know if it's more.
Also great job on "Cheeseburger Patio Night" - the TMP8 was excellent.
I'd be very happy to have these results on my mixes.
Thanks again

Thank you very much for the kind words.
Yes, those Aussie seem to have a knack for making mic pres ... I would love to have a few more. I had to send the TMP 8 review unit back and I have been waiting for another one for quite some time.
All the tracks on "Song For Life" were done through the Sebatron vmp 4000e and a Manley EL OP ... with a U87. Lots of tubes there ... transistors can't beat the "firebottles" imo.
I usually get in real close on the mic (2 to 3 inches) with a "popper stopper" screen .. and take about 3 or 4dB off the top with the EL OP.. no eq on playback on that one.
