So yea, not the best keyboardist in the world here -- can Logic Express 8 do on-the-fly quantization when I'm recording in regions? The clean-up work after a take is a bit tedious, though I must admit that it's got me thinking about all of the soul and flavor that a region-wide quantization strips out of a take.
Oh, I guess another question if the community is willing -- I've RTFM pretty hardcore, read up on the hyper-editor, the event window and piano roll window but I'm still having a hard time figuring out how to draw/fix automation lanes. Sometimes I can get to them fine and sometimes I can't even locate them. Is there a quick and easy way to jump over to automation lanes that I'm missing, a key-command perhaps?

Yes, it can. it's accessed through the inspector. Quantization

Quantization can be set to very fine increments.
The online help IS the manual do a search on quantization.
