I use D.P. with a G4 and am very happy. I recently was given (dont ask) a 333mhz Gateway laptop. Now, it has always been my dream to run Digital Performer on a Powerbook with an 828 or something to do 2 track location recordings with a small road case. I'll probably never afford this luxury, but now I have this errant laptop, and want to know what would be the easiest (least expensive) way to get two tracks of decent line level 24bit in to this machine? I just want to be able to record stereo files, then dump them to the Mac back home for the real work, so as long as the program supports AIFF, Wav, or SDII, I should be fine- I'll need no processing or plugin power. I'll be using two channels of outboard pre's and compressors before the card/interface, so I don't need mic inputs, but as far as my knowledge PC audio programs and interfaces go, I'm at a loss, being a fairly loyal MOTU user. Trying to do this may prove to make my life miserable, but being able to record out of the house would be great. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
