Has anyone tried or is currently using the Mackie control surface ? I wanted to get an opinion as to how it works and feels coupled w/ Cubase sx. I'd like to get rid of the mouse.

Dabmiester- Using a MC (Mackie Control) for three months now
Dabmiester-
Using a MC (Mackie Control) for three months now (after a shoot-out with Radikal Controller) with Pro-Tools and even though I still use the mouse and keyboard for many editing functions...for mixing, there is nothing like faders.
The other HUI functions for Pro-Tools are icing on the cake. With the overlays available for most other programs, it just makes life easy...typical Mackie!
I have had an occasional issue with fader following but nothing that I've ever given the slightest thought to beyond "I need a faster Mac..."
Buy it somewhere that will give you a trial period/satisfaction guarantee...you won't be returning it...in fact, you just may extend it out to more faders.
...As usual, your mileage may vary.

I am using a Behringer DDX3216 digital mixer as a control surfac
I am using a Behringer DDX3216 digital mixer as a control surface for SX. I get 2 banks of 16 faders, and also a headphone cue generator at the same time!
Before anyone freaks out and starts Behringer-bashing, nothing in the signal path that goes to tape goes through the Behringer, only the headphone mixes and the control surface, I may be stupid, but not *that* stupid! :)
Works great, and costs about the same as the MC, but I get lots more faders, plus the headphone cue mix (plus a talkback mic!).
JB3 What was the difference in your opinion that made you get

What was the difference in your opinion that made you get the Mackie over the Radikal? Just curious as I just recently bought the SAC 2.2 at GC for about $700 bucks..it was a good steal and I like now having motorized faders. Before I was using a Tascam US428 which was nice to begin with but seems like a toy compared to any other controller!
I happen to like it so far as it's implimentation for Nuendo right now is very nice!

Howdy I'm using the Mackie Logic Control. I'll never go back
Howdy
I'm using the Mackie Logic Control. I'll never go back to mouse mixing. I think its not because the LC is so good...rather, its because mouse mixing sucks so badly.
OK, it doesn't _totally_ suck mixing with a mouse but you can't, for example, turn one thing up while turning another thing down.
Anyhow, the box is decent enough. Its not built like a piece of Manley gear, the faders are a little wonky and the switches feel like a cheap VCR but, I think its good. It really makes Logic's automation much easier to use.
