You PAY for software??? Hmmm ... interesting concept!
Well, considering that the peecee I described has 1.5Gb of RAM, two harddrives, and two video cards, you can feel free to omit one of the items to pay for an OS, if you don't already have an OS or if you feel that you want to pay for one.
I think the point that I made was pretty clear. But, hey, a computer is just a tool. If the tool that you prefer to use comes with an overly-inflated pricetag, then you don't have much choice but to pay their price.
If you already have all of the audio software for the Mac OS, then switching to a peecee would cost you a fortune, because you'd have to pay for all new audio software (theoretically).

Unfortunately, the new Macs are OSX only. I think the majority of software manufacturers are optimisitcally 6 months and realistically a year away from full OSX compatability.
However, they are still selling some OS9 machines. Unfortunately, I think these are the "Cesna" models. It seems that the best move for someone that needs an OS9 machine for audio is a Quicksilver Mac.
