hi,
I'm making some absorption panels ( 2' x 4' ) for home recording that i can move so not against a wall). I will you them mostly for vocal booth and for general absorption in my 'live room'. I want to use 2" rockwool panels ( good absorption AND cheap !)
absorption coefficient for a 2" rockwool panel are:
125hz 250hz 500hz 1000hz 2000hz 4000hz
0.11 0.60 0.96 0.94 0.92 0.82
I want a good absorption for ALL frequencies, so i thought to use 2 or 3 x 2" panels. that would make a panel with 4" or 6" rockwoll panel.
IS 4" ENOUGH FOR ABSORPTION, OR IS 6" BETTER TO HAVE A GOOD ABSORPTION, ALSO IN TO LOWER FREQUENCIES !

If there is more mass, you've got also better isolation/absorption. On all frequenties. But the lower frequenties will be better isolated with wood or plaster material, cause these are more dense and will "move" along these low frequenties and make them lose their energy. OK?
