Hi, I connected my synth to my computer and wanted to use it's sound because they are better than the ones on my computer. I connected it via usb cable and was able to play the notes but when I wanted to use the sounds of the synth I played the notes and they didn't make a sound. I know the computer is receiving the messeges because if I put record it does record the notes, and plus when I'm using a software computer instrument it also plays the notes. What could be the problem here? I already put the synth in the midi setup and when I created the track I specified that I wanted the sounds of the Yamaha MO8. What could be the problem? I'm using Logic Pro. thanks!

I don't know if the MO8 sends audio information via USB. It probably doesn't. It's most likely only sending MIDI data through the USB.

Assuming that, if you want to hear the sounds of the MO8 coming out of your computer/DAW speakers, you need to hook up the audio outputs of the synth.

So, connect the audio outputs of your synth to the audio input on your computer. Set up your DAW (recording software) so that it's using the audio input on your computer on one of the tracks and then you should hear your synth.

Ok! thanks for answering my questions. I probably will get a MIDI cable because I do want it to be able to use the sounds of my synth as MIDI, that way it's easier for me to edit. But I'll probably use your setup too porgr4m. Thanks for answering my question! Just to be sure, if I use MIDI cable, will it reproduce the sounds of my synth? Thanks!

ummm.... no. The midi cable will transmit the midi information, but not the "sounds". For the sounds, you need to connect the audio outputs from the synth to the audio inputs of the computer. (Is there an echo in here?) For that you can just use a regular 1/4" instrument cable.
