Hi
new to this forum, and just wanted to introduce myself, and maybe some of you can point me in the right direction.
I am pretty much a beginner in recording, mixing, mastering area.
my current setup is a roland vm 7100 digital mixer, and a Focusrite penta.
I"m trying to overdive the penta to get that saturated, extra harmonics feel to some of my tracks. I'm not really getting the results that I want.
would a higher end channel strip give me the results I'm looking for?

For an interesting and more saturated sound, you may want to try
For an interesting and more saturated sound, you may want to try to purchase an inexpensive ART tube mic preamp. Feed your focusrite, then feedback through the cheap tube preamp. You will have an extra preamp in your arsenal and get some better second harmonic based distortions.

I can actually support that idea. While you're at it, plug a guitar into the instrument in of the ART pre and crank the gain until it starts to break up. I like the way it sounds myself.

there are cheaper ways to get interesting distortion effects IMO
there are cheaper ways to get interesting distortion effects IMO.. try abusing some guitar stomp boxes or old hi-fi gear before you spend any more money ;)
