Dear Nate,
I have my "effects" non-normalled, and in the center bay(s). This keeps their inputs and outputs right there together and handy. The other line sources - the "decks" - are normalled to show up on the board somewhere.

I imagine this is just a matter of figuring out how you use your studio and what would be most convenient.
