Long time reader, first time writer. And I was wondering, I am about to put together a new computer based DAW and as I was choosing a motherboard, it occured to me that there doesn't seem to be any PCIe (PCI express) based equipment. (pro sound cards, multi-channel audio interfaces, etc.) I know that most of the audio interfaces out there are more than adequate for anything I am looking to start with, but use and support of the standard PCI bus is dwindling. The board I am looking at is the Asus P5GDC-V with an intel 915 chipset. Not an "over the top" board by any means and its mainstreamed priced as well. But, as intel would have it, the chipset support for standard PCI is starting to be pushed aside for the new PCIe bus.
Now, except for the new Sound Blasters, is there any movement by the Pro Gear companies towards utilizing the extended bandwidth of the PCIe bus? Or is everyone moving towards firewire conectivity?

Most audio interfaces these days are still PCI, Firewire and USB and I can't see this changing in a real hurry. By the time pro audio PCI-Express cards are introduced this Asus mobo will probably be redundant.
IMHO I'd go for a tried and tested version of the same mobo with the Intel 865PE chipset rather than the 915P chipset. Firstly the mobo will be cheaper and an AGP graphics card will be cheaper. ASUS, Abit and Gigabyte all make LGA775 mob's with Intel 865PE chipset's.
