i have a Behringer eurorack mixer that i have to use as a preamp for recording vocals

the reason i use it is because i had it for my PA, and i cant afford to buy anything else right now really

the only way i can afford to interface with my computer is to go out of the two rca plugs on the tape out of my mixer into my soundcard

i have had what i would call decent results, but id like to know one, what problems the eurorack mixer as a preamp could cause, and two, if there is a better CHEAP way to interface into my computer without having a fancy fire wire interface

Listen, a very very good preamp for the money are the art tubes.

Let me link you to one. Also it depends on what microphone u have, but most condenser mics that range from $500-$1000 is going to work with this ART. Let me link you.

Check that out. The box looks ugly, but the sound is ENORMOUS. Try it out. It's so cheap and sounds like a $2000 gear.

Even if that $99 ART pre really sounds like stuff costing 20 times more, it is a preamp - not an interface to the computer.

If you are just looking for something functional but low budget, you might look into some of the smaller USB mixers (depending on your needs, the same unit could replace your eurorack for live PA applications). It's probably a step up from RCA into a soundcard?

He has both already (an interface and a preamp), neither of which are exactly pro gear. Yes, a better preamp might be good, but if it is still going into a consumer grade soundcard, then what's the point?
