yup another one of those 'what preamp shall i buy' topics..
But my question is subtly different..
I have a Focusrite platinum voicemaster right now, i use the eq normally, then run through a urei1178 ..With a condenser I'm getting pretty nice vocal sounds, and my dynamic guitar sound is fairly o.k.
BUT. .I have just bought a Shure SM7B dynamic mic, for rock vocals
(hey, if brendan o'brien uses one, who am i to not use one), and the platinum preamp just isn't good enough for a killer dynamic vocal sound, I've heard preamps (the ones in seeport broadcast mixers for example, and to a lesser extent the modern ams-Neve ones) that make dynamic mics sound almost like condensers...
Anyway...question is...has anyone of you had experience getting nice dynamic vocal sounds with stand alone preamps?
i'm looking at the sort of affordable ones, like the vintech, grace, summit, and little river..(theçheaper ones)
Any experience i'll be happy to hear..
thanx a bunch.

No pimping here either, just my opinion.

I also sell Greatriver and love Dan's gear to no end.

In fact I would make quite a bit more profit from a Greatriver sale, but I would rather answer the question, which was based on affordability.

I just feel that the Vintech line is a great value for the $$$. I use them daily and they have thier place right next to my Neve's, Greatriver's, Millennia's ect, ect...

As always, thanks for your opinions Fletcher!

Cheers,
