People reporting 10.4.11 and 7.4 works good, even though it's not officially supported by PT. Working with ease like older version 6.4-6.7 worked ... without choking. I've done it.. works good, and 10.4.11 seems faster than all other OSX versions.
I think it'll be mid year for PT and 10.5. But that's just my opinion. Avid not showing at NAB this year, and rumor is no support for 10.5 'till mid year on that..... that's why I'm thinking same for PT. Besides, what's so important about upgrading so soon??
Digidesign assumes that most Pro Tools workstations (like mine) are dedicated machines. That having the latest and greatest bleeding edge updates are secondary to having a stable system.
