Hi,

I haven't been around much lately, apologies.

Some cool news from the recording the world front:
RADAR 24 is being used as a multi-channel 192 kHz master recorder for re-releases of classic albums in the SACD and DVD-Audio format in both NYC and LA.

Also DMT Rentals in L.A. who has been providing RADAR to the scoring stages and studios in L.A. for years has just become our most recent dealer. RADAR 24 is being used on projects with James Horner, Michael Mancina and James Newton Howard at Todd AO et al.

Happy tracking...

Hi,

SACD uses DSD as a delivery format, but most SACD releases to date start life as high-res multi-bit PCM or even high quality analog.

Several of the so-called DSD editors actually perform the edits in multi-bit PCM and then re-convert to DSD.

IMHO DSD is dumb place to go for a production format. It has to be unpacked into "words" anyway (DSD wide? pleeeaase, give me a break...) to be manipulated and there are very few algorthms for processing in the DSD domain.

Food for thought.

cheers...
