If i got a mixer could i just connect it to my computer with a sound card.
Does any one else record stright onto computer. If so how do you like connect the mixer to the computer. I no it proboly sounds stupid but please help.

You could plug a mixer into (or just skip the mixer altogether)
You could plug a mixer into (or just skip the mixer altogether) a Presonus Firestation, Firepod (now called FP something) or another one of their products.
The Firestation, and Firepod both offer multiple inputs and outputs (including 8 mic/line inputs), using fire wire to get into and out of your PC.
A Texas Instruments Firewire card for your PC is the way to go, and very inexpensive. The Firestation or Firepod are about $700...
Playback: Line out (sound card) -> mixer stereo channel in (or

Mixer master out -> monitoring system.
Recording:
Any mixer channel with direct out/insert/aux send prefader -> sound card analog in.
Disable direct monitoring in your DAW and you're in the game.
