I propose an inevitably brief discussion about Stylophones.
In my limited experience with the newer models, the line out is incredibly noisy, the thing is a pain to play, requires proper tuning and the speaker adds additional noise to the output if you put your hand over it.
However - it is good for practice with noise gating. Or you could eliminate the noise issues and place an SM57 upon the speaker.

I used a stylophone on one of my recordings (which isn't yet complete so I can't let you hear it :wink: ), which I layered up with harmonies so it sounded like some kind of bizzare electronic brass section. It's perfect for the song, although I haven't been able to put it to use anywhere else!
The most annoying thing I found was the "click" when you slide between notes. I eventually managed to get rid of most of it with EQ and Multiband Compression though.

From http://en.wikipedia… this wiki page;
"Jon Spencer has used the Stylophone extensively on recordings with his band Blues Explosion, and has famously had problems bringing the device — described as "the world's most annoying musical instrument" — through airport security.[citation needed]"
Lol, this gadget looks like a modders dream, the sky is the limit for mental things you could make this into.
How about a huge one like the piano in the movie "Big", except you play it with a laser pointer?
