Hello,

Here is a rundown of the equipment I have:
Mixer: Mackie CF20
Power Amplifiers: Crown Ultratech 1010 (x2)
Graphic EQ: Samson E62 1/3 Dual 31 Band Equalizer
20 channel Snake
JBL speakers (not sure model)(x2)
JBL monitors (x2)

I am the worship leader for my local church. Although I know a little bit about mixing & audio engineering, I am a little confused about this issue. I "inherited" the sound system when I became a member of the church. It is obvious that all of the equipment was installed incorrectly...continue reading and I'll explain how I know this.

Note: All of the cables used to connect things have been ran through the ceiling, so I am unable to get a clear picture of the setup. However, as I previously mentioned, the system is wired incorrectly. When I connect the speakers to the "main out's" on the mixer, no audio is outputted to the speakers, regardless of the level of the main mix. However, when I connect the speakers to the "sub out's", there is audio outputted to the speakers.

Therefore, my question is:

What is the proper signal chain to connect all of this equipment? Where does the Graphic EQ fit in the mix? If I wanted to send the signal from the Mackie CF20 into another, smaller mixer (which has a USB port on it to record), what "output" should I use?

Is the mixer really a CF20 and not a CFX20?

Check that the "Break" switch below the "Tape Level" control is not depressed.

If you are wanting to record the mixed signals that go to the main outputs (when you have those working), use the Tape Out RCA sockets and take them into a recorder of some sort (MP3 recorder, CD writer, computer with 2-channel audio interface attached, etc). Avoid being tempted to use a second mixer for this routing task.
