Hey UAD 1 users...
i just picked up the UAD 1 so i can get the Dreamverb free by Oct, 23...
After noticing the site saying use 2 or 3 cards and others on here,,, I saw the box desciption for allowed plugins before CPU is maxed..
so the question is...
how many of you have maxed out the CPU on the UAD 1 , with how many tracks running? basic ideas, i undestand some plugins use more and stereo too
do you find yourself already wanting a 2nd card ?
i'm trying to get a sense of what i will be able to do with a complete mix and ONE UAD 1 card]
would you mix down a track or two to free up final mixing CPU ?
Thanks for the input,,

Thanx a lot for answer
let me get this right , when you say loaded 2 Dreamverbs, you mean only t wo tracks can use it at a time, or bus?
hell if a mix had 16 tracks , we'd need more cards then PCI slots???
hook, lined, sinkered lol
oh well, still would like more info
Thanks
Mike
Yeah, sorry for the delay in responding...I meant on a send bus.
Yeah, sorry for the delay in responding...I meant on a send bus. I use one DreamVerb setting for vocals, and then another for guitars (sometimes drums). These are set up in a send bus that I can route any number of tracks to. These 2 reverbs take up about 48% of the card.
If you add in a few 1176's and numerous Cambridge EQ's, you are getting close to maxing out the card.
A single card is still extremly useful, I just want more...more...MORE!!! :)

Yes, the UAD is quickly maxed out. I noticed that the first day I used mine and was a bit disappointed. Mainly because I had a TC Powercore first which has oodles of power and then some. I can run 8 ClassicVerbs on it (not that I need that much ... ).
On the question TC vs. UAD:
If you are looking for a really good reverb go for the TC Powercore. The ClassicVerb is IMHO the best reverb in software so far (maybe except for the Impulse Response ones that are real power hogs).
If you are more interested in the compressor emulations or potentially the Nigel Amp-Sim go for the UAD (or two or them).
If you have the extra cash get one of each (maybe used?). Stay away from the Firewire Powercore for now, it's not quite stable according to what I heard. The PCI version is solid as a rock.

Thanks for the info guys I'll be working on my own p
Thanks for the info guys
I'll be working on my own projects for now , so hopefully one card will do,,
yes, a 2nd card used looks good too, but , after checking with UAD on it, the cards themselves can be transfered, but not plugins like Dreamverb and Cambridge,,
unless ofcourse you have the licence yourself,,
again thanks,,
maybe you can help on another front, i posted my almost final decision on DAw in computer forum, let me know what you think , hoping to order in a day or two

Yeah, I am ready for my second card. Loading up 2 DreamVerbs tak
Yeah, I am ready for my second card. Loading up 2 DreamVerbs takes almost 50% of the card! Add in a couple of compressors and 5-6 Cambridge EQ's, and you are pushing 80% (or more!).
