If you plan on using the DAW to playback any low bit/sample rates like 16bit/22kHz audio or lower yeah you would sadly need a consumer audio card to play back that stuff. If you plan to use the daw for multipurpose use ie: playing "games" or whatnot yeah youll need a consumer card aswell to playback all that multichannel audio...

If you plan to stay above 16bit 44.1kHz then nah youll just need the FF800. If you do end up using multiple cards, make sure they do not share IRQ's.

Thanks. I don't plan on multipurpose use with this comuter though. It is strictly a DAW. I don't actually have it built yet, just in the works. But I'll be using it with a pair of ASP8's and the fireface 800 with samplitude.
