I am looking to sell royalty free music CDs similar to what FreshMusic does. I have produced an indie film in the past and I can tell you that there's NO WAY I'd ever do it any other way than to pay a ONE TIME FEE for music. This is in fact the industry STANDARD for indie low budget films. This one-time fee pricing makes sense for low budget productions, but for productions that have bigger budgets it makes sense to charge more. What do some of you all think is a fair royalty free pricing structure for licensing your music to film productions? I can imagine a structure whereby you charge X dollars for any production that's under a $100,00 production budget, then X dollars for any production between $100,000 and $250,000, etc, etc.
