Trying to configure my new machine. For economic reasons I think I can either get an Athlon64 3500+ with 1Gb ram or an Athlon64 3200+ with 2GB ram. I will probably lean a bit more towards VSTis than audio tracks in my usage(but barely.) What is the consensus? I'm also thinking a Gigabyte nforce3 board and GeForce 6600GT graphic card(for a little bit of gaming.) Audio card will be either my M-Audio Audiophile PCI or Novation X-Station USB. Thanks.
for lite to medium VSTi 1gig is fine for heavy VSTi 2 gig is nee
for lite to medium VSTi 1gig is fine
for heavy VSTi 2 gig is needed.
most samplers are memory loading not disk streaming so ram is important.
good choice on the Gigabyte K8ns Ultra 939
