Hello everyone,
I'm building a new little glorified low budget home studio in my basement.
This thread is to document the process and to get advice from you pro's when I'm not sure on something.
Isolation:
I'm going a little bit beyond standard basement construction as this space will eventually be a normal basement if I ever chose to sale the house, so I kept that in mind.
Basic framing construction has started.
Construction plan details:
The live room is going to be imparting "Genie Clip System" and double staggered layer 5/8 Gypsum Board for the ceiling, to get a little extra isolation to-and-from the upstairs.
The wall dividing the control room (Smaller room to the left) and live room is going to be a double wall construction following Rods guidelines from his book.
I'm at the point where I need advice for the placement and size of the "line of site window" from the control room to the live room.
I understand it will have to be located to my right side of the mix position with the monitors firing from the top down.
My question is how far back should the window be from the top of the room, givin its shorter length of 16.5 ft.
Size wise for the window I was planning on 54 inches X 36.
This window is going to be part of a double wall construction, fallowing the guidelines of Rods book. Found a local resource for 1/2 inch Laminate Glass.
