I'm in the market for two nice condenser microphones and will be recording voice recording onto portable recorders like Zoom H4N.

Build quality and sound is a must, Will be using XLR inputs.

Can anyone please give me some input on what you think is best brands and models ?

My price range is 100 $ to 300 $ each mic.

Thanks for any help you can give me !

How and where are you going to be recording? Are you asking about hand-held mics, table-top or studio stand mount? Is this studio work, live venue, ENG, outdoor effect recording or what? How are the stereo pair of SDCs fitted to the H4N not suitable for what you want to do?

Sorry, but we need more information before we can give any meaningful suggestions.

I say don't buy a condenser just for the sake of have a condenser.

Looks like I have picked the recorder !

Marantz PMD-671

I just now have to find two great Condenser mics.

I already have dynamic mics and are not in the market for them - Only Condenser mics.

I'll like to hear all your reviews on Condenser mics !

Thanks for your help !

Just my two cents, but not only have I yet to hear a condenser in the price range you mention that I would feel good about recommending, no way will you find a great condenser in that price range: ( .
You might can get some semi okay ones, maybe?
What dynamic mics do you have?
Will you be looking for used or new?
Why do you feel you NEED a condenser mic?

You need to stop. Listen. Budget condenser microphones are not what you need. Look at what ALL of the professional radio jockeys use. A dynamic moving coil microphone like the Shure SM57/58, the Shure SM7, the RE20/27. ESPECIALLY for speach/talk you do NOT need all of the other garbage a cheap damn condenser will bring to the table. Go with a Shure SM58 or SM7 or if you want to spend more money then get an Avantone CR14 ribbon.

In regards to the recorder, I have a PMD 671 and have upgraded the electronics. With the upgrades it is quite a nice unit for location two track capture, but it is not as versatile as the Zoom H4n without upgraded electronics.
