Interesting product, but it's a shame that they went to all the trouble to develop a really good 3DF (degrees of freedom) servo system when a 4DF system that had the height adjustment as well would have been so much more flexible for this application.

Now with this new drone control unit I've got, maybe I could just ....

Please !! The look of the guy has nothing to do with what he has to say. That was uncalled for !

That guy is very opinionated and can't stop cursing but he's get his point out there. Some of his review seems like bashing products which at least shows he is not a total fake like on other youtube channels.
I don't always agree with him on advance technics but he sure knows how to record a metal band !!
It's also very funny to see him getting aggravated about a viewer comment :)

Glenn has been around for a few years now, and is certainly an "animated" guy...LOL - Windsor, Ontario - where he's from - is right across the river from Detroit, both pretty tough cities, and it's just his working class language and method to describe things. But, he is also obviously passionate about the craft. I don't always agree with him, but he does seem to have a real handle on mixing metal.

Height is actually just as important for what my main requirement would be so this does fall short. I would love to have height adjustment for the choral work I do during Festival time. I often have to run between Choirs switching over and lift or drop the big stand I use with my trusty Royer SF 24v, Being able to do that from the Control Room would be so nice.

Good call Bos.

Agree, I felt that was uncalled for to but I actually didn't understand who Kurt was referring to because I didn't get it. The guy looks perfectly fine to me and I thought he did a great job discussing this. (y) I'd welcome him into the RO circle any day. Did I miss something?

Glenn is great...as DonnyThompson stated hes' been around for ages...I absolutely love his "What band members say...." videos as well...wev'e all heard them, but he sums things up so well....hes' animated but if you have followed him for a while...thats' just Glenn...good for him !

Big shout out for Glenn...great product and a good review too...for those that haven't seen him before, check out his YT channel...well worth it, even for the piss-take against bass players...all apologies to those who play the bass...but you know...about time, eh?;)

excuse meee! i didn't know who he is and i was just wonderin'. i still think he looks like a refuge from the basement. old rockers don't age well and at least to me, it ain't pretty. i'm old and fat too but then i'm not presentin' on the Eww Tube. for the record, i think the Stones are past it too. about the time Bill Wyman bailed it was getting pathetic. lol.

Actually, I think he's quite a few years younger than we are, Kurt.

I don't really care what anyone looks like - I listen for info, and while I don't agree with everything he says, the majority of the time I do.

There would likely be those that would say that I'm too old to still be out there giggin', but I don't care. If Willy Nelson and Merle can play into their 70's, then I can too. LOL

And if you think he's too old and ragged looking for youtube, well then, you just haven't been doing enough youtube searching. LOL

;)

This does touch on a huge aspect of music. The image. the guy in the vid lost kurts business just based on his look. I also don't see and average 12 year old interested in pop giving him the time a day. it's this guys freedom to dress and talk that way, and it's our freedom to judge him on it. When you make a statement, with your dress, or have a stereotypical style, like 'metal head, rapper,' you have to be aware of that as a professional.

My co worker is known for saying whatever he thinks no filter, and some people like some people don't. I could care less what anyone says about some jag off on YouTube, lol, that is a big part of the Internet. I just think it's an interesting angle of the biz.

I had hair down to my butt, and was a bartender/tech at a dance club for two years, and I got along just fine. lol I earned there respect each week by showing them where to plug in. Lol and making strong drinks. But really they might see you as 'white boy' at first but most of them were never outwardly judgmental in that way.

With diverse taste, I always try to look appropriate for the part, and at least not be offensive, like wearing a death metal shirt to a choir gig. Gotta know how to dress act and talk. Booking dates is a whole different day than putting up an ISO wall.

I often cringe at the poor quality audio on musical tutorials, and backrounds that give away its there bedroom. It doesn't take much more than a bed sheet, or towel, on a mic stand behind ya geez!.

Lol but that's all part of professionalism, and there's no right way. But I think Kurt brings up a good point, and I think everyone should be aware of its effect.

Have a nice f*%#ing day!

Glenn pretty much does metal only. He's not interested in pop, or country, or classical or blues, or anything that isn't metal, with very few exceptions.
He's fairly well equipped, too; he's using Neve and API pres, has a great selection of tube amps and cabs, uses live drums only ( he does in fact get a very good live drum sound), has a treated space, and is serious about what he is doing with his clientele. I'm not a metal fan by and large, but I've heard his work with good players, and I'd say he's got some game.
He's found a niche that works for him in his area, his studio stays booked regularly, and that's the best anyone can hope for in this day and age of home "studios" popping up every other day on every block.
While he can seem tough on some people, he's actually saved quite a few young bands a lot of money - and taught them valuable lessons - by shutting sessions down short, if the band wasn't prepared... and very few studio owners - myself included - have done that all that much over the years... maybe a few times, but not much.
When I was in business, I wasn't at all selective about whom I recorded - cash was king, and if you sucked, it didn't bother me; as an engineer, my job was to get tones to tape in the best sounding way possible - it wasn't my responsibility to make someone more talented than they were; or to insure that they were rehearsed and ready for a session. If they had the cash, I'd record them. I also had artists and bands that were great, and I loved those sessions... but that didn't mean I wouldn't record someone who was terrible.
I was operating a business. If I didn't do their session, there were two other studios in town who gladly would.

Now, acting as a producer was a whole different ball game. I was selective about the clients I produced; not only to insure that there was talent there on their end, but to also make sure I could do them a positive service, too.
