Hi all,

Basically I'm about to splash out on another mic... just wondering about any suggestions! I'll list the mics I've got first. Also, I know this question seems stupid, but how does my mic locker hold up? Good/Crap?

5 x Shure SM57
1 x Shure Beta52
1 x RODE K2
1 x ADK ST Pro
2 x RODE NT5
1 x Sub-kick mic thing (you know, the NS10 in reverse trick)
**edit - oh and a BSS AR116 DI box, if that helps

Thanks all!

recordometer, I think your microphone locker looks great! So, what's your budget? What kind of sound are you looking for? I think since you already have a relatively nice selection of both condenser and dynamic microphones, that only leaves a ribbon microphone as the only one that you do not have. If you want a classic ribbon sound, any of the old used RCA's would be great or the more modern, more affordable Coles or Beyer might be right up your alley? The Royer sounds wild but I think it sounds more like a condenser microphone than the classical ribbons sound. Many people love those but I have no experience with them at all.

Looking for a pick me up. Hello? Hello?

I like the RE20 suggestion

You may also want to look at getting some 421's, they always seem to find a use in most studio's

You could really stand to have a strong vocal mic in your collection. I recently bough a Charter Oak SA538 ($1500) and highly reccomend those. I also tried a Telefunken USA Elam (F series - $3995). I also like the Soundelux Elux 251 and Rode K2.

If you are going to spend the money try and find a retailer who will let you try the mics out. That will mean making some space on your Credit card but it is better than spending a big wad of cash on something you might not like.

I think your number one priority should be to find a solid condensor vocal mic - good luck!!
