Hi,

I will try not to bash Antares as much as possible but I something to consider when buying their software. A few years back when us Mac users were in OS9 I shelled out my hard earned dough for Mic Modeler using Digital Performer (MAS). Great software, much more than simply an eq for mics! Well it has been well over 2 years since OSX has come out and do you think there is a Mic Modeler MAS or AU version available yet? Nope! Oh sure there is a RTAS and Direct X version available but no AU. How considerate.

After many emails the last getting pretty nasty I recall one of their replies that went something like this...There is no guarantee that any software will be updated. Nice. What other software company that is still in business does this?

So a word of caution: Before you empty your wallet for their new AVOX software or whatever - what's to say that they will update it to the new OS or Intel switch? Just something to consider.

Rock on!

I see your gripe about this but you have to take into consideration:

Software designers already choose what platforms they want to support just like electronic designers choose what batteries to use before anything is built.

I had a Lexicon Core-2 soundcard when I had Cubase 5 and I was running Win ME. Naturally Cubase SX came out and I wanted to upgrade but SX doesnt support anything lower than Win 2000 and the Lexicon has no driver support for anything higher than Win 95/98/ME. I called Lexicon up and asked if they were going to support XP and they said "no". You can clearly see where I am going with this and yes I sold my Lexicon and bought an Echo Gina/24, upgraded to Win XP and Cubase SX, all is working well now and I am happy.

Back to Mic Modeler... I wouldnt complain much about not having a version that supports your platform. I used MM and it had its high points but...... You can still achieve the same sound using other plugins which to me seems pointless to even buy MM in the first place.

The reason why I say this is because of the hefty $300 price tag that comes with it. If that price were lets say cut in half then I will say that MM may be worth having.
